Sisters of the Red Tent

From Aug. 14-20, sisters of the Red Tent, a week-long Jewish women's retreat, will explore the tribal spirit of Jewish women through ritual, learning, and community. Rabbi Jill Hammer and Shoshana Jedwab, co-foudners of Tel Shemesh, will be participating in this retreat and facilitating the first week of the Kohenet Training Program. To register, go to www.jewishretreatcenter.org/retreats/womens_week.

Come to create and celebrate as we re-visit the stories of our matriarchs, study and experience our relationship with mother earth, the sacred seasons, the Divine Feminine, embodied prayer, healing, and ritual from a Jewish and feminist perspective.

This week will be a chance for Jewish women to deepen our connections as tribal sisters, descendants of the tribe of Dinah, the only named daughter of Jacob, through re-creating the red tent*, a female spiritual space where women gather and magic happens.

With the unique lens of our experiences as women in these times we have the power to continue evolving the face of Judaism and the concept of the Divine Feminine. In addition to the learning that will take place in class we will create a communal space where we will weave our spirits together in rituals and celebrations and create lasting conscious community. Through this work, may we heal and rejoice with each other and those who came before us, as we honor and connect with our grandmothers, mothers, daughters and our many sisters around the world.

* Bring your daughters, mothers and sisters, to share in this empowering experience!
* If you can't come for the whole week, join us for the Feminist Shabbat weekend and experience a truly feminine version of Shabbat practice
* This retreat is for women only although there will be a simultaneous retreat on the premises that will include men
* Planning is still in progress. Please look for more details, updates and additional course offerings at this web site in the near future.
